It is picturesque village, it lies in the east part of Ipeľ Hollow.
The first mentions about the village come from 1327, but it is older, probably developed from older Slavic settlement. At present the village has 1325 citizens, some beautiful historical and cultural monuments. The village includes the Policlinic, the Pharmacy, the Post Office, the Kindergarten, the Elementary School, the Voluntary Agricultural School and the Secondary Agricultural School – 4-years study with maturity specialization as fruiterer – beekeeper, gardener, binder, grower, confectioner, agribusiness, economy of soil management, marketing. In the valley, northeast from village there are the earthy-alkaline- salty springs with healing effects. In the village surrounding there is the possibility for fishing.
