The village is situated in the beautiful countryside of Zitny ostrov.
The fi rst records of the village date back to 1250, when it was called Potun. Since then, the village has undergone an interesting development. At present, the total area of the village reaches 28.37 km² and the population is 2,060 people. The benefi t of the village are also attractive natural and climatic conditions. Horná Potôň lives an active social, cultural and sports life. The aim of the village is to promote local traditions and develop cultural heritage and rural values.
