The village of Veľká Čalomija is located in the south of central Slovakia, in the basin of the Ipeľ River, which forms the border with Hungary. We are a village with 600 inhabitants, our culture and our language belong to the “Palóc” ethnic group. The village has many remarkable places, which today serve mainly as tourist attractions. In the village there is the original Pustý church, which was built in the 11-12th century, and in which a medieval culture vessel made of bronze depicting an armed rider
sitting on a horse was found. This is the only original metal aquamanila. There is also a military bunker from the period of the 1st Czechoslovak Republic from 1937. The local amphitheater is also a pride of the village, where various cultural events are organized every year. We also have a municipal museum here. The village rents bicycles, kayaks, canoes for rafting the Ipeľ River, where active relaxation is possible.
