Nové Zámky – a pearl of southern Slovakia (38,000 inhabitants) - lies in the Danube Plain, in the Nitra river basin. History goes back to year 1545. It is associated with personalities such as Georgius Széchényi, or Anton Bernolák. The city survived Turkish occupation and American bombing. From the monuments the Roman Catholic Church of the Ascension of St. Cross and the Franciscan Monastery were preserved. The current magnet of tourism is the Thermal Swimming Pool - Štrand of Emil Tatárik. On an 8-hectare area, there are 9 swimming pools, water slides, miniature golf and other playgrounds.
