The first written mention of the village comes from 1245. It is located close to the spa town Bojnice. The village is residence of the Mine Cigeľ and also the Mining open-air museum is situated here. More biking tours are leading through the village. The newly built centre Water World provides possibilities for sport fishing, as well as the pleasant relax in nature. The village dominates the St. Barbora Roman-Catholic Church. 1,730 inhabitants, the land area 844 ha.
