Bojnice lies at the foot of Mala Magura near the Nitra River. The fi rst written mention of the city is the Zoborska Deed from 1113. The charm of the city lies in the harmony of the natural environment and preserved historical monuments. Bojnice Castle is the most beautiful of them. It has changed several owners and administrators over the past centuries. There are Renaissance and Baroque townhouses on Hurban Square, and well-preserved city walls stretch around the historic core. As to the core, the most interesting attractions in Bojnice are the more than 700-yearold Linden three of King Matej, the Provost’s cave in the rock under the rectory, the National Zoo in Bojnice, which is the oldest in Slovakia. Bojnice is also known for its thermal healing springs. Various attractions such as the House of Illusions, Bojnice Court, falconry area, Bencovje Ground Craft Museum, Bojnice Lookout, Botany Park, Museum of Prehistory of Slovakia, Velvet Gallery, Mineralogical and Mining Museum, Gumiland, sand sculptures exhibition, restaurants, cafes, pastry chops, hotelsand guesthouses, as well as hiking and cycling routes around the city, and other attractions serve for enrichment and making the visitors’s stay comfortable. Realized with the fi nancial support of the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic.
