The Trnava Self-Governing Region is a founder of the museum.
The Museum of National Geography in Galanta was founded in 1969. It possesses more than 25,000 collection articles, which document a rich regional history and culture. There are here complete collection of archaeology, history and ethnography. The museum administers detached expositions in Water Pan Mills in Tomášikovo and Jelka, Houses of Folk Architecture and Habitation in Matúškovo and in Veľké Úľany. In the Renaissance Manor-House in Galanta, in the Municipal Offi ce in Veľká Mača and in the Fándly’s Rectory in Sereď there are historical and archaeological exhibitions. The museum specializes in documenting history of miller’s trade in the river basin of the Malý Dunaj (Little Danube) and lower reaches of the Váh river.
