Partizánske – an entry gate to Upper Nitra Region
The history of the city, one of the youngest ones in Slovakia, is connected with the shoe factory of Tomáš Baťa. His ancestor, Jan Antonín Baťa, founded his company in 1938 in the municipality Šimonovany, and so he laid the fundaments of the town Baťovany, later on renamed to Partizánske. Former town of shoes complies with the City vision by revitalization and dynamization of cultural and social life – where life is! Except various cultural events it also off ers options for active relax. Especially the swimming pool Dúha, Observatory and Thermal spa in Malé Bielice are  sought after. The centre dominates the Square of SNP withthe fountain and the park, where the Divine Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church is located, built in 1949 according to the project of the architect Vladimír Karfík. In the interior of the church, which is the cultural monument since 1995, the marble cross with statue of Jesus with outstretched arms by academic sculptor Tibor Bártfay is standing.
