Sihelné is the third northernmost village in Slovakia. It lies at the foot of the hills Pilsko and Babia hora. The highest point of the village is the peak of Sihelné Castle - 993 m altitude. In 1629, the foundation charter was issued by earl Gaspar Illésházy at the St. Sophia Church at the Orava Castle. The village area is 1440 ha. Number of inhabitants is now 2120. One of the oldest buildings is the old bell tower. The village dominates the new Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and the rectory. Every year the village organizes the Folklore Festival below Pilsko and Babia hora with international participation. The whole area is suitable for hiking and collection of mushrooms. Behind the village there is a popular ski resort SKI GRÚNIKY.
